The meltdown

Talk about good timing. It was 39°C yesterday and 42°C today. Omgggg. How do people survive in this scorching heat? I am not far from turning into a roast turkey. But hooray for evaporative cooling! Method 1: Taking a cold shower then leaving the bathroom without being towelled dry and sitting in front of the fan butt nude. Method 2: Wearing a wet shirt with the fan blasting at you. Method 3: Rubbing ice cube all over your body. Method 4: Wiping your body with a wet cloth. Licking works pretty well too when you're too lazy to damp a piece of cloth. LOL. Desperate situations call for desperate measures.

On the bright side, the heat actually makes a good appetite suppressant. I've only had one meal since I arrived Perth. Maybe I can start looking into shedding the whooping 6kg I gained last year. Ice cream and ice blended slushie sounds like a good dinner for tonight though. Hmmm but there goes my weight loss plan.

My favourite time of the year

Seriously, nothing beats the festivity of Chinese New Year. There is so much about Chinese New Year that I look forward to every year. It's those massive reunions with friends and family members, red packets filled generously with money, grand firework displays coming from all corners of the neighbourhood despite being illegal and those ridiculous amounts of savoury junk food and soft drinks!

When I was younger, I wasn't able to appreciate this celebration as much. To me then, it was just another CNY celebration, like meh this is so overrated. As I got older, I started to realise how CNY is the very few times when everyone gets to get together to share our best times. My very favourite part about CNY is the visitings with my school friends which goes a long way back to 2002 when we first got into secondary school. It has pretty much turned into an annual tradition for most of us. Throughout those years before any of us got our driver's license, I remember my friends and I would have to painstakingly walk through endless rows of neighbourhood streets, asking for lifts from one house to another and to arrange for our elder siblings or friends to be our designated drivers for the day. Ah, the good times :)

This year's CNY was unspeakably fun for me. I managed to catch up with some friends I have not seen in years as we exchanged endless stories of the present and past and shared shitloads of laughter and nostalgia. It's as if those days in school would never fade away. I suppose perhaps not in our hearts. Here's a compilation of shameless CNY visiting photos dating wayy back to 2004 :O

2010: Everyone somehow decided to crash Catherine's! Poor girl had a fright :D

2009: Self-timering with the camera somewhat mispositioned on the sofa

2008: Visiting Hui Sun on the first day of CNY together with Darling and friends and my awfully funky hair

2007: Quickie group shot outside Kitty's and here's a rare shot of the once chubby Jerome omg :D

2006: The Nine's + Maynard. Eric's living room became a makeshift photography studio.

2005: The Nine's at the exboyfriend's

2004: This is the oldest it gets hahhaa :O

We'll see what happens

See about uncertainties.

Yep, I made it

It was a little traumatising but overall, the surgery was pretty painless (pain killers ftw) and I really liked the staff at the Sarawak General Hospitial. I am already managing some semi-solids so yayyy! the Junebug didn't have to go through a day in complete pain and hunger. The first thing I had was my mum's pineapple jam tart mmmmmm... and the best thing was, it melted in my mouth :D

Playing with fire

Here it goes again. Do I ever learn?

I am now convinced that my stomach cannot tolerate too much alcohol. Although I do not get tipsy toooo easily but my stomach does act up. When it does, things can get rather ugly or in some circumstances, messy. My alcohol binging record currently stands at three litres of beer which isn't too shabby for a chick like me who has no drinking history until I went Down Under. Things started to go downhill from then unfortunately. All hail Curtin's Oktoberfest and my damaged liver.

At the moment, I can't quite tell whether I'm actually tipsy or simply nauseous from the stomach upset. I reckon it's the latter. Perhaps it's a bit of both. Say 30% tipsy, 70% nauseous? I dunno but it certainly doesn't feel quite right. I suppose it's time I listen and bloody quit binge drinking. Yes, I have a filthy habit of binging.

Torn between two worlds

I don't think I'd be saying this but I'm absolutely looking forward to being back in Perth! I am already looking forward to those late night studying in uni where I always end up being mocked by the vending machines and those random Wednesday nights at the Tav that don't usually end too well. I am missing those train rides to the city on the weekends where I get to soak up some gorgeous sunshine while hunting for a good bargain or a pretty dress to turn some heads on my next huge Saturday night out, and those little cooking adventures (and other adventures >:O) Joyce and I love to randomly embark. I really can't wait to catch up with my Perth buddies and urm, Geology textbooks and rocks :D I have a lot more reasons to why I'm looking forward to being back but I suppose you get the idea :)

It was just a bad dream

And here's for a sigh of relief.

Talk about a hell of a dream. Someone close to my heart suddenly committing suicide by taking the fall. A bloody massacre happening at somewhere that seemed like a tall casino building that I have never been to. A strange love affair with someone I barely even know. Seriously, what the hell.

Wrong decisions and second chances

Decisions, they don't seem to be the easiest things to make. Sometimes what seems right to you can just turn wrong in a snap.. or something you decided to overlook for a minute turns out to be the perfect ingredient for disaster. I guess that's partially why I was never quite able to see myself as a Civil Engineer. I don't fare too well when it comes to undertaking immense responsibilities and sucking up to mistakes and failures. Heh. I have had a few close calls in the recent years, some of which I am not too proud of and the thing is, I don't know just how many more chances I will be spared if I keep making the wrong choices.
